Waikato Chamber of Commerce are your authorised agent for Export Documentation.

If your documents need certification as detailed on your Letter of Credit or through instructions received from the importer, please contact us, we offer both manual and electronic service.

Manual/wet stamping is available at the Waikato Chamber of Commerce office between:

10:30am - 12:00noon and 2:30pm - 4:00pm.

CERTIFICATES OF ORIGIN

A Certificate of Origin (CO) is an important international trade document attesting that goods in a particular export shipment have been wholly obtained, produced, manufactured or processed in a particular country. It is also a declaration by the exporter.

There are two major types of COs:

  • Non-preferential COs are issued for goods which will not enjoy any preferential treatment.
  • Preferential COs are issued in the context of preferential trade agreements and enable exporters to benefit from tariff exemption or reduction for eligible exports.

COs may be requested by Customs administrations, importers, freight forwarders or banks for clearance letters of credit.

The Waikato Chamber of Commerce provide online (electronic stamping) Certificate of Origin services to speed up application and issuance processes as well as provide a more secure documentation environment. Electronic CO systems allow the Chamber to utilise security features such as online verification of authenticity and optical watermarking technology.

The issuance of electronic COs allows exporters to apply and receive approval automatically, saving travel and wait times and minimising courier and dispatch costs.

The Chamber can also authorise Certificates or Origin by Hard Stamp.

The Waikato Chamber of Commerce offers its members discounted export service rates.

FREE TRADE AGREEMENTS

New Zealand exporters seeking tariff preference under the New Zealand-China Free Trade Agreements will be required to have a China Free Trade Agreement Certificate of Origin to accompany their consignment.

In order to take advantage of the preferential access that ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Agreements (AANZFTA) offer, exporters require an AANZFTA Certificate of Origin certified by an approved body. The Waikato Chamber of Commerce has extensive experience with Free Trade Agreement Certificates of Origin and can provide exporters with the support and resources they need to capitalise on the AANZFTA and New Zealand-China Free Trade Agreement.

To be eligble for preferential treatment under the AANZFTA, goods must:

  • Fall within a description of products eligible for concessions in the importing part;
  • Comply with all relevant provisions of the Rules of Origin of the Agreement.

Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam
