GALLAGHER BROTHERS / GALLAGHER GROUP
BUSINESS HALL OF FAME
Inducted 2020
Gallagher started as a small 10-person business in 1938 by founder Bill Gallagher Senior. Since Bill’s sons, William and John (now known as Sir William and Dr John) joined the company in the 1960s, they’ve grown it to become a global leader in the animal management, security, and fuel industries.
The company employs more than 850 New Zealanders plus a further 400 people around the world, and is a significant contributor to the community – and indeed New Zealand’s economy at large.
Just a small handful of the things the Gallagher brothers are significant financial supporters of include Innovation Park, the Gallagher Academy of Performing Arts, Habitat for Humanity, the Young Enterprise Trust, Wintec House, the Gallagher Aquatic Centre, Te Waka, and the Hamilton Gardens.
They continue to invest heavily in the Waikato – its people, and places. There’s a clear intention to ensure Gallagher is here for generations of family, employees and community to come with an enduring legacy – always based in Hamilton, always giving back, and always growing.
