We sat down with the Chamber's new Events Executive, Caz Wood to get to know more about her.
Born and bred in the mighty Waikato, I was raised on a dairy farm in my early years and have called Kirikiriroa my home for most of my adult life with the exception of 2 years in London on my OE and 2 years in Wellington.
Outside of work, I’m a Mum of two boys, who are quickly catching up to me in height, and have a packed schedule of sports and activities that keep me entertained (and crazy). In my spare time, I enjoy being at the beach or in nature or attending a concert or sports event.
I’ve completed several Great Walks, Half Marathons, and have travelled extensively throughout Aotearoa and many countries around the world.
Tell us about your work history.
I have predominantly worked in the travel, events and tourism sectors with organisations including Mystery Creek Events Centre, The University of Waikato, Orbit Hamilton and Wellington, and most recently Hamilton & Waikato Tourism – 4+ years working on a central government funded project supporting the Thermal Explorer event sector (Hamilton/Waikato, Rotorua, Taupō and Ruapehu regions). I have a Bachelor of Tourism with majors in Tourism Management and Sport and Leisure Studies from the University of Waikato.
What does your role at the Chamber entail?
As an Events Executive, I’m responsible for the planning, coordination and delivery of high-quality events that support the Chamber’s strategic goals.
I will also assist with the Chamber’s marketing and communications activities and support and deliver projects.
What are your strengths and skills?
I’m a team player – supportive, reliable and positive – with great communication and problem-solving skills. I have excellent attention to detail with a side of creativity which aligns nicely with organising events.
What are you looking forward to bringing to the Chamber?
My passion for our people and our region and the creation and delivery of inspiring events for our Waikato business community. I’m delighted to be in a role that supports our members growth and fosters connections. My enthusiasm and caring nature will bode well for adding value to the Chamber’s initiatives.
Where is your favourite place in the Waikato?
There are so many magical places in the mighty Waikato! I would have to say I’m most happy when exploring our walking and cycle trails. A stroll around the Lake, a hike up to the Hakarimata Summit or cruising on my e-bike along the Waikato River – there is so much to discover!
