We sat down with the Chamber's new Marketing, Events and Membership Co-ordinator, Danielle Quigg, to get to know more about her.
Hey Danielle, welcome to the team, can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Originally from the Bay of Plenty, growing up in Rotorua and Te Puke, I moved to Hamilton to attend The University of Waikato in 2017. Graduating with a Bachelor of Communications, majoring in Public Relations and specialising in Event Management at the end of 2019.
I enjoy being challenged, keeping busy and creative tasks. Over the last year, a large portion of my spare time has been spent running my own small business selling cocktail themed soap bars. Attending local markets has been a great way to keep involved in the community.
Tell us about your work history.
I would like to think all my work history has provided different skills and insights to a range of industries that are integral to my role here at the Chamber. During my time at University, I volunteered at events in Hamilton while working part time in hospitality and customer service roles.
After graduating, I focused on entering the events industry with roles in event delivery for The Races which was nationwide, and function coordination at Zenders in Hamilton. When events were on hold due to Covid, I entered a customer service role for Virtual Print, which progressed into a sales and marketing-based role.
What does your role at the Chamber entail?
My role at the Chamber involves supporting members when joining and throughout their membership, facilitating events, as well as producing marketing content for newsletters and social media. I will be key support for the team, closely working with Liam, Jenny and Rob.
What are your strengths and skills?
Organisation and multitasking are my strong points. I’m sure being across various areas at the Chamber will exercise these skills, which I look forward to. I enjoy meeting new people and forming lasting relationships and look forward to working with the members.
What are you looking forward to bringing to the Chamber?
I am looking forward to being a fresh set of eyes that can bring a youthful prospective to the Chamber. Implementing new social media tactics and refreshing the look of existing content is what I am most eager to get stuck into.
Where is your favourite place in the Waikato?
Being a keen hiker along with my partner, we enjoy the many great walks throughout the Waikato. Mount Pirongia would have to be my favourite place due to the range of tracks available, the challenge they bring and the satisfaction of the view once reaching the summit. Raglan would come a close second, being close to home but far enough to feel as through you have had a nice break away from the city.
